Hosting a large-scale international event requires more than what guests see on event day. Behind the scenes, security professionals, regional leaders and trusted partners spend countless hours preparing for potential risks while creating an environment that still feels welcoming and celebratory.
For the KC 2026 security plan, that preparation included Alert 360 Mobile Surveillance Units. The units provided an important layer of flexible video coverage as security teams prepared to welcome visitors from around the world.
Kyle Postell, Director of Safety and Security for KC 2026, recently shared how Alert 360 contributed to the event’s broader security strategy.
Experience Behind the KC 2026 Security Plan
Before joining KC 2026, Postell spent 14 years with the United States Secret Service. His experience included explosive detection, working as a canine handler and providing executive protection for foreign dignitaries, heads of state and national leaders.
That background gave him a firsthand understanding of what it takes to develop a security plan for a high-profile event involving multiple agencies, partners and stakeholders.
According to Postell, one of the greatest challenges was balancing strong security measures with the excitement surrounding the event. Guests needed to feel protected without allowing the security operation to interfere with the experience.
“We had to work really hard as a team and as a region to make sure that we were implementing security strategies and components that made people trust us and feel safe,” Postell said.
Mobile Surveillance for a Large-Scale Event
Alert 360’s Mobile Surveillance Unit was an integral part of the KC 2026 security plan.
Designed for temporary, changing and higher-risk environments, mobile video surveillance can provide monitored camera coverage in locations where permanent infrastructure may not be practical. Units can also be repositioned as access points, gathering areas and security priorities change.
Alert 360 Mobile Surveillance Units offer several important capabilities:
- Rapid deployment for events and temporary locations
- Highly visible equipment that can help deter unwanted activity
- Flexible placement based on changing security needs
- Intelligent video detection and monitored camera coverage
- Live audio talk-down capabilities
- Support from trained video security professionals
These capabilities can help security teams maintain better visibility and respond with more context when suspicious activity occurs.

A Responsive, Team-Based Approach
Technology was only one part of the partnership. Postell also emphasized the responsiveness and support provided by the Alert 360 team.
Alert 360’s local branch, Video Shield department, marketing team and additional support personnel worked together to help meet the event’s security requirements. When requests arose, the team responded quickly and remained closely involved throughout the process.
“Working with Alert 360, they were extremely responsive,” Postell said. “Any requests that I had, they responded immediately and were on site the same day.”
That level of responsiveness is especially valuable during major events. Security requirements can change quickly as schedules, attendance, traffic patterns and site conditions evolve. Having an experienced local team available to respond helps event organizers adapt without losing momentum.
Security That Supports the Experience
Successful event security should help people feel confident without becoming the center of attention. For KC 2026, that meant developing a visible and comprehensive strategy while preserving the excitement of an international celebration.
The result came from cooperation across the entire region. Event organizers, stakeholders, security professionals and technology partners each played a role in creating a safer environment for guests.
Postell believes the team achieved that balance.
“I think we did an amazing job,” he said. “I would absolutely work with Alert 360 again.”
